THE MURAL /
MELISSA FALCONER

Melissa Falconer, YouTube creator and self-taught visual artist from Toronto will be bringing her pop-art style to Montreal’s walls this summer. A few years ago, while studying Economics at university, Melissa suffered from depression and turned to painting for solace. She first gained recognition for her art within her community and on digital platforms such as YouTube where she’s amassed over 32K subscribers. Through her art, Melissa has made it her mission to encourage others to pursue their passions despite societal expectations. Her pop art paintings inspired by Black culture aim to empower people to feel represented, hopeful, confident and loved. Her journey illustrates the power of pursuing one's dreams and the positive impact that creativity can have on mental health.
Melissa is a recent graduate of CNCPT (cncpt.ca), a competitive accelerator program created by YouTube and HXOUSE, aimed at supporting creative entrepreneurs to get to the next level in their careers.
@YouTube is thrilled to partner with Melissa to produce a custom mural for the festival.

YouTube’s CNCPT program will be popping up at Montreal’s Mural Festival June 8th - 18th to provide a platform for emerging Québec creators. YouTube is one of the presenting sponsors of the festival.
The CNCPT program, launched in 2022, provides resources, education, and support for the next generation of Canadian creators. Through year-round networking and knowledge-sharing sessions, access to experts, and the Accelerator intensive, the inclusive and collaborative learning environment directly helps creators build their digital careers and take their businesses to the next level.
The pop up will reflect YouTube’s multi-year program in partnership with HXOUSE, bringing the creativity and community-building of CNCPT to life through always-on programming on St. Laurent Blvd. From creator merch markets to panel discussions, the high-design pop up will provide creators with unique opportunities to connect with their communities and tell their stories. The pop up will be accompanied by a dynamic mural by pop artist Melissa Falconer, a recent graduate of CNCPT’s Accelerator Program.
